About the WI Global
Sports Conference

The WI Global Sports Conference (WIGSC) is established by the Washington Institute for Business, Government and Society.

Our Vision for the WIGSC is Shaping A Better World Together Through Sports.

At the intersection of sports, business, government and society, the inaugural Global Sports Conference in 2020 will provide an open and creative forum that tackles the existing and emerging challenges facing the global sports industry and the wider world.

Our mission, therefore, is to:

Enable business, government and society realise the full potential of sport and demonstrate how it can be a catalyst for global economic development and accelerating positive social change.

Create tangible outcomes and learnings for leading decision-makers across the sports industry – helping them to address the challenges and threats to sports, its institutions and broader society – as well as seizing the economic and social opportunities sport now universally offers.

Determine industry best practices for the future, inform national and international policy reviews, promote positive legislative change and ensure sport is embedded into strategies for solutions to create a better, happier, healthier and more prosperous society.

Help the sports industry adapt to modern challenges created by economic and technological disruption.

Inspire the next generation of young leaders to adapt the current methods of thinking and working and place sports and recreation at the heart of future business practices.

Encourage business, government, society and sport to unify their goals, work together with more cross-sector collaboration and achieve economic objectives aligned to greater social purpose.
